Blog Resurrection!!!!

It's been a few years since we have posted on our blog.  Our goal this season is to post weekly updates on course conditions, projects, our crew and important dates such as aerification.

There will be a link to the blog on Kearney Country Club's weekly email blast.  Please click on the link and see what's cooking with the Turf Care Center.

Thanks for following!!

Winter Play

We have had some up and down weather this winter.  One day it's in the 20's and two days later it's in the 50's.  This week is no exception.  As I am writing today, it's 14 degrees. Friday we are anticipating a high of 70!!!

The swings in temperatures have the turf confused.  It doesn't know if it should come out of dormancy.  You may see a tinge of green showing up, then a few days later it has the nice copper dormant color.  Limiting play on dormant turf is the best we can do to prepare the course as we are heading into spring.  I have attached a link from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln's Turfgrass Department.  The link describes the harm traffic does to turf when it's dormant.

I, like most of you can not wait to get out on the course.  Spring will be here before we know it.  Enjoy the great weather this Friday.
